Top 13 Beauty Products of 2013

Hey all, I back with post about my most used beauty products for 2013.  I think this year I was more into using what I had, more than purchasing more products (compared to years past).  With a few exceptions I will definitely be using these products for 2014.

1. My first product is the best eye primer ever.  Wet N Wild Fergie Take on the Day Eyeshadow Primer (For My Primas).  I tried Urban Decay Primer Potion as well as Too Faced Shadow Insurance and I most say that this drugstore primer beats all of them.  I put my shadow on at 6:00am and when I get home at 6:00pm it still looks great.  You can purchase this primer at Walgreen's for $4.99.

2. Maybelline Color Tattoos, the color pictured above is Bad to the Bronze and is my most used Color Tattoo.  I'm embarrassed to even say how many I own.  I use this over my eyeshadow primer to enhance my eyeshadow.  I actually use this more than my MAC paint pots, they are comparable and at a better price point.

3. My Lorac Pro Palette, I heart this palette, it is so versatile, as the top row is all matte and the bottom row is all shimmer.  I have to stop myself from using it all the time, I mostly use the matte shades, but lately I have been incorporating the shimmer shades into my looks.  This palette is perfect for travel as there are a range of colors.

4. Bare Mineral Mascara in Curl & Lengthen and Volumizing.  I picked this up last year at Ulta when they were 50% off, I believe they retail for $18.00 each, so I got two for the price of one.  I can use the Curl & Lengthen alone and my lashes are fine, but when you add the volumizing, you get perfect lashes.  I haven't experienced any clumping with either mascara.

5. Laura Mercier Spellbound Face Illuminator was my first real highlight purchase.  It was limited edition, so it is not available anymore.  It is rose gold in color with slight shimmer.  I have been using this pretty much everyday since I purchased it.

6.  Covergirl Queen 3 in 1 All Day Flawless Foundation, all I am going to say is I LOVE this foundation.  It provides the right amount of coverage and I don't have to set it with powder and the price point is great (I get it from Target for $9.99).  This is my second bottle, so that's saying a lot, and it is about 75% finished.

7. Clarisonic and Philosophy Purity Cleanser, it's like this two items were made for each other.  I mean the Purity cleanser is great on it's own, but when paired with my Clarisonic, I know that my skin is clean and that ALL of my makeup has been removed.  I purchased this two items together as a TSV from QVC.  I thought that by using makeup remover wipes and my cleanser, that my face was free of makeup, boy was I wrong.  The first time I used my Clarisonic and looked at the brush afterwards, I was mortified.  The brush was full of foundation.  I think this product is definitely worth the investment.  I use it about five times a weeks and I'm happy with they way my skins looks.

8. The Original Beauty Blender, I passed on purchasing this for years, $19.95 for a sponge, I think not.  I purchased something like it at Marshall's for $5.95 and I honestly didn't see what all the fuss was about after I used that product.  I don't know why I finally ended up purchasing it, but I now see what the fuss was all about.  I use this practically everyday, and I must say it was worth the $20.00.

9. Juicy Couture, Couture La La, my new favorite scent.  I have never really been into perfumes, I get serious migraines from scents.  I only use DKNY Be Delicious, but I had a sample of the Couture La La and I fell in love.  I received this bottle as one of my Christmas presents.  I'm not even going to attempt to describe how it smells, this is the description from the manufacturer:
Sparkling Mandarin, Water Hyacinth, Green Apple, Red Currant, Lily of the Valley, Blushing Peony, Violet Leaves, Orange Flower, Smooth Woods, Liquid Musk.

10. Tarte Off the Cuff Blush Palette, I purchased this at Sephora in October, I believe, my thought process was, I wasn't going to miss out on this set, as I was unable to get the blush set from 2012.  The palette contains four blushes, (Crave, Dazzled, Darling, Dollface) and a bronzer (Park Avenue Princess).  Crave and Dazzled are my favorite, I'm glad I didn't miss out on the Christmas set this year.

11. Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light, I use this as an all over face powder, but more so around my nose, where I have visible pores. I noticed that once I started using it, my T-Zone was not as oily as before.  I was so upset that I missed out on the Ambient Lighting Palette, this retails for $45.00 and you can find it at Sephora.

12. Rimmel Eye Kohl in Nude, I bought a few of these, but this color is by far my favorite.  I use it on my waterline to look more awake. I got this from CVS for about $3.99, I believe.

13. Last but definitely not least, Jordana Fabuliner in Brown or Black.  I broke my black pencil somehow, so I just photographed the Brown one.  I love, love, love this liner.  The felt tip is a lot easier for me to use when I am lining my upper lash line.  I made the mistake of leaving this at home when we went away for the weekend, and I tried to line with a dark liner, my eyeshadow just wasn't the same.  I purchased this at Duane Reade for $2.99, they are also available at Walgreen's.

What are your favorite beauty products of 2013?  Do you use any of the products listed above?  Leave a comment and let me know what you want to try in 2014.

Night Elf EOTD

So I finally got around to using my Wet n Wild Night Elf palette after many months.  I think I'm out of the eyeshadow rut that I was in, so hopefully I can start posting more eye and face of the day.

Night Elf was definitely worth all the hype, the red is amazing and so is the club dupe.  Blending was not a problem with this palette and the colors applied smoothly.  I'm glad that I got my hands on this one.

NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk
Wet n Wild Night Elf Palette (tan color of lid, club dupe in crease, red and a little black in the outer corner)
Milani Liquif'eye eye liner in brown (upper lash line)
Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion in very black

Sorry the first photo is so blurry, I didn't realize it until after I had uploaded the photos.  Also, my camera did not pick up the crease color very well, sigh.  I really like how this all came out.  Do you own Wet n Wild's Night Elf palette?  Leave a comment and let me know.

NOTD Wet n Wild Blitzen & Shield

I haven't painted my nails in awhile, so on Saturday I decided to use Wet n Wild Shield along with Blitzen.  I figured that this would also be the perfect time to try out my Seche Vite top coat.  I have to say that I was very disappointed in how long my manicure lasted, which is usually the case.

I don't usually use a base coat on my nails, but this time I used my Sally Hansen maximum growth clear polish which was probably a big mistake.  By Sunday my nails looked horrible, chipped polish on practically every nail, smh.  I was very upset because I heard such good things about Seche Vite, however I'm going to try it again without the Sally Hansen polish and see how it works out.  I'm positive this top coat isn't receiving such high praise for no reason.

So here's my nails soon after polishing them.
Hopefully my next nail of the day won't be a big flop like this one was.  Do you own any of these Wet n Wild nail polishes?

Wet n Wild Snow Sprite FOTD

Hey ladies, I'm trying to get back into the groove of things with posting, but it's hard cause I'm completely exhausted most of the time.  The semester is almost done, so that should help a little.  Speaking of being tired, I'm sorry in advance for how tired I actually look in these photos.  Seeing is surely believing and I don't remember being that tired on this particular day, but a picture is worth a thousand words.

So I finally found the courage to go out of my comfort zone, I don't usual post looks like this, because I'm in a neutral rut at the moment.  Let me know what you think.  Also I did my makeup before I actually got dressed, so this is not the shirt that I wore.

Wet n Wild Golden Goddess FOTD

So I was inspired by acomplicatedmelody on Youtube for this face of the day.  I have been feeling blah these last few weeks, so I have been doing a really simple look, which I will post very soon.

Though the palette comes with six colors, I had no idea how I was going to put them together.  I never would have thought to use MAC's Coral Crepe paint pot if not for the video.  It really helps to bring out that coral-ish color on the top.

Face
Clinique almost powder makeup in deep golden
MAC Studio Finish Concealer NC50
NYX Spice blush

Eyes
UDPP
MAC Coral Crepe paint pot
Wet n Wild Golden Goddess (same colors used in video minus the highlight color)
Revlon Grow Luscious in Black

Lips
MAC Strawberry Blonde lipglass

I'm glad I ended up picking up this palette because I was going to pass on it.  My only problem is that it is kind of a glitter bomb, especially the second color on the top, which  I used on my lid. I had a lot of fallout under my eyes, besides that it was worth the $4.99.

Don't forget to enter my giveaway.  You could be the winner of either the Night Elf or Snow Sprite palette.  You have until December 5, 2010, 11:59pm est.

Wet n Wild Holiday Golden Goddess Palette with Swatches

So initially I passed on the Golden Goddess palette from the Wet n Wild holiday collection, but seriously who was I kidding.  I knew I was going to buy it, I just had to.  So now I own all four of the of the palettes and my collection feels complete.

Swatches without flash

The colors in this palette are really pretty and this palette seems to have the best color pigmentation out of the four.  On Sunday I will post the giveaway for two of the palettes from the collection, so look out for that.

Wet n Wild Color Icon Pixie Holiday Palettes Finally!!!

I'm not even going to tell you how many Walgreen's I have been to searching for these palettes.  Looking on every end cap, every shelf, it was ridiculous.  The funny thing is I found them at Pathmark,  yes, Pathmark the supermarket.  I was super excited when I found them, because I had been to three different Walgreen's that particular day.  Smh, the life of a beauty addict.

So out of the four palettes, I picked up Sugar Plum Fairy, Snow Sprite and Night Elf.  I did not get Golden Goddess because I feel like I already own similar colors.  I have not used these palettes yet, but stay tuned for some face of the days featuring the Wet n Wild holiday palettes.

 Sugar Plum Fairy

 Snow Sprite

 Night Elf

MAC Club, WnW Night Elf

All swatches were done without any base and the photos of the swatches were taken without any flash.  As you can see above the color in the Night Elf palette is very similar to MAC's Club.

I'm happy that I finally find these palettes.  It's nice when you can get good quality makeup for amazing prices.  Stay tuned because I will be doing my very first giveaway, that's how happy I was to find these palettes, lol.  So two lucky subscribers will win either the Snow Sprite palette or the Night Elf palette.  I will be posting the giveaway and the rules soon.

Wet n Wild Festive Flirt Nail Kit

Just wanted to share something that I spotted at CVS tonight. I have never seen any Wet n Wild products at CVS, with the exception of this nailpolish set and the traincases. This set retails for $4.99 and it comes with eight nailpolishes. I think I might pick up the one on the left, it has a cute purple polish with glitter in it.

The finally have the Revlon Suede Rhapsody, which you can see a little bit of on the bottom. I picked up the multi-use palette last week from Rite Aid after I searched about six Duane Reade's for it. I had to have it :)

Have you seen these nailpolishes at any of the drugstores, if so let me know? Until next time...

Rite Aid Shopping

Last week, I went to Rite Aid to pick up some Wet n Wild items which were bogo free. Since I already owned the Lust, Greed and Vanity palettes, I figured I might as well have the Pride palette as well, lol. So I picked that up along with three of the Craze nailpolishes.

The nailpolishes are colors for Fall in my opinion. I picked up Goldmine, Shield and Rustic, I haven't used them yet so I can't really comment on them. However, I did use them on the little one with no topcoat and it lasted for about three days.

I must say that the Pride palette did not disappoint me like the Greed palette did. The shadows in this palette have great color payoff. Perhaps I should have bought this one to begin with.

Pride palette matte side, shimmer side.

So that's all for right now. Let me know if you own any of the Wet n Wild Craze nailpolishes, I would love to hear what you think about them. Until next time...

Wet n Wild Dark Shadow

This is the last nail polish that I purchased from Wet n Wild's Insomnia collection, which I believe is limited edition.

I have to say that I love this polish, it is black with silver glitter, it comes in second after Prowler of course. With the other polishes I used three coats, but with this beauty I only had to use two coats to achieve the color in the bottle.

Again, I can't comment on how these nail polishes wear because I just painted my nails so that you would have an idea of how the colors look. I will update each post when I actually wear the polishes so that you will know how they wear. These polishes retail for $1.99 and can be found on a special display at your local drugstore. Until next time...

Wet n Wild Sleepwalker

Last week I picked up two more nail polishes from the Wet n Wild Insomnia collection, sleepwalker and dark shadow. I really do love these nail polishes because I don't own anything like them and like I said before they remind me of the Style Black mineralized eye shadows.

Sleepwalker is black with orange glitter, for some this would be a perfect nail polish for Halloween. It went on smooth with no streaking and I used three coats to get what you see below.
The glitter is not too bright or over the top. In my opinion these nail polishes are very wearable. Cute and affordable, who doesn't love that. Again, this beauties retail for a mere $1.99 and you can find them at your local drugstore on a special display. Until next time...
