MAC Dare to Wear

So I we went to the mall today and of course I had to stop at MAC to check out the new Dare to Wear collection. I knew for certain that I was going to get Going Bananas eyeshadow because I had six empty containers and if you are not aware, MAC has a B2M (back to MAC) program, where you can return six empty containers and receive an eyeshadow, lipstick or lipglass in regular packaging. I have read so many things about Going Bananas in the past year, so I fell into the hype. It did not disappoint me though I'm sure I could have done without it.

I looked at the collection on the internet and I was also interested in Louder Please eyeshadow, but when I swatched it in the store I didn't love it so I passed. However, Lime eyeshadow caught my eye and when I swatched it I loved it. In the store, I thought how great this eyeshadow would look paired with MAC's Naked pigment. I can't wait to try this color combination, I know it's going to look fabulous. Below are swatches of both Going Bananas and Lime. Lime is a matte and Going Bananas is a frost.

Wet n Wild Greed Palette

Let me start off by saying that I love both the Lust and Vanity palette, so naturally I thought that I would love this palette too. Boy was I ever wrong. The color
payoff on this palette is horrible, horrible and oh did I mention horrible. The one exception is the beautiful grayish shimmer color that is on the bottom.

I swatched the matte side first and then the shimmery side.

I actually did a look with this and I was not satisfied with it, so I did another which I was not so ecstatic about either, but I took pictures of it anyway. The colors do blend very well and they are all pretty colors, but is all the good things I have to say about this palette. The shimmery side of the palette also has a lot of fall out, which I'm sure you can see below my eyes.

I used the blue shimmery color on my lid and the matte black in the outer v and half way into the crease.
I used UDPP and NYX jumbo pencil in slate (dark blue) as a base.

Sunday's CVS Trip

So on Sunday we headed out to CVS, because the hubs needed deodorant and I had $5.97
in extra bucks expiring. Lucky for me they had a deal going on when you bought $15.00 in Softsoap, speedstick or Irish spring products you received $5.00 back in extra bucks, not a great deal, but he needed the deodorant and I love Softsoap body wash :)
The deodorant was $2.50 and the body wash was $3.00, but I had coupons for everything pictured so I ended up paying $6.61, $1.33 of it was tax and I received $5.00, not great, but not bad either considering that we actually needed the deodorant.

Wet n Wild Coloricon Nail Polish

So, while I was at Rite Aid a few days ago, I came across a Wet n Wild Coloricon display filled with little cute nail polishes. I'm guessing that these polishes are for the Fall as they are all dark with different color glitter inside. I wanted to buy two, but the cheapskate in me prevailed and I only bought one. Good thing too, because this week at Rite Aid Wet n Wild products are on sale BOGO 50% off, plus when you buy two products you receive $1.00 back in +Up Rewards. Hopefully I can get to Rite Aid tonight or tomorrow to pick up more of the nail polishes. They cost $1.99 and the bottle is very, very small. I picked up Prowler because it reminded me of the MAC Young Punk MES (mineralize eyeshadow) that I didn't buy last year from the Style Black collection. I am still distraught over that, but hopefully one of these days I finally find it again. So I took some pictures of the nail polish on my nails, but you are being warned beforehand that I almost NEVER paint my own nails and when I looked at these pictures on my camera they looked fine, but on here you can see the mistakes that I made. The first photo is without flash and the second is with. To me this particular polish looked like it dried to a matte finish, but I really don't know anything about nail polishes, so I can't be certain. Another thing is that it takes a little bit of scrubbing to remove, but I think that happens with most nail polishes that contain glitter. Overall, I am most definitely going to purchase more of these, I was eyeing the orange, it was actually a toss up between that and the purple, but in the end Prowler won, lol.

Rite Aid Trip

So today is suppose to be the hottest day of the year here in new york. I seriously hate the heat, I turn into a uber not so nice person. However, I needed to use a Up Reward that was expiring today, so I headed out to Rite Aid in the nasty humid weather. I picked up two of the Revlon Photo Ready Foundations. This is my first time using foundation, I'm scared of it. I don't want to look as if I have makeup on or pickup the wrong color and just look like a hot mess. So I have stayed away from it thus far. I picked up 011 Cappuccino and 010 Caramel so that I can mix them together because the Cappuccino looks too red, I could be wrong, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. So these were 13.99 and all Revlon products were 40% off so they came out to 8.39 and you receive a $4.00 Up Reward when you purchase $10.00 worth of Revlon products. I thought there was a $2.00 coupon somewhere, but I couldn't find it so I settled for $1.00 coupon in last week's paper. I also purchased some Crest 3D toothpaste on sale for $2.99 and receive a $1.50 Up Reward, I also had $1.00 coupon for the toothpaste. I also had a $7.99 single check rebate for last months rebates. So after my rebate coupons and expiring Up Reward (which was for $1.00) I ended up paying $10.53 and I received $5.50 back in Up Rewards. I love that Rite Aid has started this program, it is very similar to CVS's Extrabucks program which I am completely in love with. After I have used the foundation for a while I will definitely review it, I hope it doesn't disappoint me. Until next time...

EOTD using Pure Luxe Cosmetics

I purchased five mineral eyeshadow samples from Pure Luxe Cosmetics about four months ago and I thought that I would use them for my very first eotd (eye of the day). It's a shame that I am just actually using these shadows for the very first time, smh. They blend very well and have great color pigmentation. You can purchase samples from Pure Luxe for only $1.00, yes, you read that right $1.00 and the samples are very generous. Check them out at www.pureluxecosmetics.com I used Notorious on about 1/2 my lid and After Hours on the other half with Solitude lightly in the crease. I lined my upper lash line with L'oreal HIP Creme Eyeliner in Brown and I used Covergirl's Lashblast Fusion on my lashes. I hope you enjoyed this, until next time...

It's My Anniversary

So today, July 20, 2010, the Mr. and I are celebrating our six year anniversary. Boy does time fly. Six years ago we flew to lovely Las Vegas, Nevada and got married. I was seriously just cheesing typing that :) Our marriage, by no means, has been an easy one. I think that in the last two years we have been tested and when it seemed liked all was lost, we still pulled through stronger. I have come to realize that marriage is hard, HARD work. You have to communicate with your spouse (this is something that I just realized last year) you have to compromise, you have to be understanding and most importantly you have to listen. You have to listen to yourself, you have to listen to your spouse and you have to listen and be aware of the things that are not spoken. I'm not saying that you have to be a mind reader, but I have learned that you have to pay attention to everything. We got married when we were twenty two years old, so its been a learning and growing experience for both of us. There are things that I didn't realize then that I am fully aware of now. So I guess what I'm really trying to say is that through the good, the bad and the ugly, that our marriage has evolved and I know deep in my heart that it will continue to do so. I also know that there is no one in the world that I rather be with than him, and even though he's a big jerk and hasn't subscribed to my blog yet, lol, I still love, respect and appreciate all that he has and will always do for us. Until next time...

Wet N Wild Vanity Palette

This is my second review of the new Wet n Wild palettes. I have to say that out of the three palettes that I own (Lust, Vanity and Greed) Vanity, is hands down my favorite. I think that I'm on a neutral kick these days, because I LOVE this palette. I have used it about five times and it blends wonderfully and the shadows lasted about ten hours. Like I said in my previous review these palettes contain three matte and three shimmer eye shadows. I think the stars of the palette are the two bottom shimmer eye shadows. This palette also supposedly contains some MAC dupes, but I can't confirm this because I do not own any of those shadows. So without anymore delay, here is the vanity palette (for those of you who haven't seen it yet, lol).
Swatches, top Vanity palette alone, matte side and then shimmery side. Bottom row vanity palette with NYX pencil in milk in same order as the top row.

Again these retail for $4.99, but you can usually catch them on sale at your local drugstore. Until next time...

Let's Get NAKED!!!

With Urban Decay's New Naked Palette that is :) I snagged this last week from sephora.com and I have to say that I love it. I had the original BOS(book of shadows) but I sold it because I rarely touched it. I also own the Get Baked palette which I am truly in love with. So when I read the buzz going on in the blogosphere, I had to see what all the fuss was about. The palette retails for $44.00, which is not bad considering that the shadows are full size and the cost of one Urban Decay eyeshadow is $17.00, you do the math. Naked contains twelve shadows, a mini UDPP and a dual sided eyeliner in whiskey and zero. There are a mixture of finishes in this palette as well, not all of the shadows are the glitter bombs that Urban Decay is known for. After swatching I did notice that the first five shadows(Virgin, Sin, Naked, Sidecar and Buck) all looked similar on my skintone. While this stinks, its not a deal breaker because the other seven shadows are wonderful. I did a look with Half-Baked on the lid, Smog in the crease and Darkhorse in the outer V and it came out wonderful(sorry I didn't take any pics, this was before I started my blog).

Now on to the swatches
Starting from the left; Virgin, Sin, Naked, Sidecar, Buck, Half-Baked, Smog, Darkhorse, Toasted,
Hustle, Creep and Gunmetal. Do you see what I mean about the first five :(
I am really glad that I picked up this palette, I know I'm going to get a lot of use out of it. Did you pick up this palette? If so, how do you feel about it? Until next time...

Wet n Wild Lust Palette

So I decided that I am going to review some of the Wet n Wild palettes that I own. The reason being is, when I was comptemplating buying these and I did a Google search I could rarely find any reviews or swatches done by woc (women of color). So hopefully this will help someone who is considering buying these palettes, but want to see some swatches or insight from a woman with a darker skin tone. I purchased three of the four palettes, I skipped on the one with the blue and greens in it, the name eludes me right now. The Lust palette as you all probably already know by now contains a pink, purples and a beautiful gunmetal color. The palette has three matte colors and three shimmery colors as you also probably already know :)

Ahhhh, beautiful isn't and the price makes it even better. In my area this retails for $4.99, but you can usually get them on bogo or buy one get one 50% off which still isn't a bad deal. Now for the most part I don't own any matte shadows, I have some in a Coastal Scents palette which I rarely use. So when I used this palette it was my first time working with matte shadows. The matte side, which is the only side I worked with, blend wonderfully. I used UDPP(urban decay primer potion) in Eden, which is a matte primer/base and I found that throughout the day there was a little fading. It was very humid that day, but all in all it wore very well. Now on to the swatches, I swatched each shadow twice, once with a base (nyx jumbo pencil in milk) and once without a base.

The top photos shows the palette swatched with nyx pencil in milk, with the matte side swatched first and then the shimmery shadows. The bottom photos are swatched on there own and I started from the bottom of the palette to the top. Overall I think that this palette is a great value. You receive six shadows with different finishes for only $4.99 and the quality of the shadows are definitely not the same as the Wet n Wild of the past. I hope that you have enjoyed this review because there is surely more to come. Until next time...

Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion Review

Good morning all. Let me start out by saying that I'm a BzzAgent and I received this item for FREE, however, that in no way, shape or form has influenced my review. If you don't know what BzzAgent is I would highly suggest that you check out the website at www.bzzagent.com You get to participate in some great campaigns, this is my third one so far. The first was for Claritin, because my son suffers or suffered from allergies this past spring. I also had a chance to review a wonderful hotel in Atlantic City, which the hubby and I truly enjoyed. Anywho, I have to say that I honestly and I mean honestly love this mascara. I don't use mascara with all of my looks but when I do I use Clinique high lengths mascara in black (I received a sample of this during their bonus time this past spring, but I fully intend on purchasing a full size when I'm done, I love this mascara) and then I follow that with either Clinique lash doubling mascara or MAC zoomlash. Seems like a lot of work right? Well with Covergirl's Lash Blast Fusion I don't have to use two mascaras to get the same effect. This mascara lengthens and thickens my lashes, one mascara double duty. You gotta love it!!
So that you have an idea of what exactly I'm raving about I'm going to post some pictures of my lashes before applying the mascara and after applying the mascara. I should also mention that I received Lash Blast Fusion in very black.

These are my lashes before the Lash Blast Fusion and below is after appyling two coats of the mascara. Do you see the difference? I surely do. You can find Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion at your local drugstore. Until next time...

Introduction

I guess the title of this blog speaks for itself. I'm pretty much trying to come out of my shell and what better way to do that than by blogging. First off, my name is Teqiyya or Tee whichever your prefer :)

I will pretty much be talking about whatever comes to mind, hence the name, however, I do have a passion for saving money and spending money on makeup. I'm clearly confused. I hope that you enjoy all that I have say.
