Nars Luster

So about a month ago Sephora released some Nars lipglosses to complement their best selling blushes. I own two Nars lipglosses and they are okay, but they should be a lot better than what they are considering the price. They are very sticky and have very little color payoff. I was in a word, disappointed.

However, when you think of Nars, most people think of blushes. I have heard a million great things about these blushes. For the most part I'm a lipgloss and eyeshadow kind of girl. My collection circles around these things. So when I first got into makeup blush was the last thing on my mind. I have always read great things about Nars' Orgasm, but I have also read horrible things about it as well. Plus I tested it out in Sephora a while ago and I honestly don't know what all the fuss is about.

Naturally I leaned toward the "safe" choice which was Luster. I would describe it as a peach with gold shimmer. I also picked up the Luster lipgloss, which is so much better than my other Nars glosses. It's not as sticky and though the color payoff isn't great I wasn't disappointed.

Luster Blush, Luster Gloss

The blush is buildable and it shows up on me as a gold-ish color. The gloss is a sheer gold color and it is sticky, but not as sticky as the other two that I own. I am proud of my first Nars blush purchase. I was not disappointed, it definitely lived up to the hype. Have you purchased any of the nars blush/lipgloss combinations, if so how do you like them? Until next time...

All Nighter FOTD

So as I mentioned here, Rock & Republic's All Nighter blush was pure love. So not to long after I received it, I believe the very next day, I had to use it.

Face

Clinique Almost powder compact makeup in deep golden
Rock & Republic All Nighter Blush

Eyes

Milani Liquif'eye Eyeliner in Brown
Maybelline The Falsies Mascara ( I love this stuff)

Lips

Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in Copper Charm

I must say that Maybelline's The Falsies is wonderful. I have worn it twice and both times I was asked if I had on false lashes. I can't put on false lashes to save my life and until I perfect it, this mascara will definitely do the trick. Until next time...

Rock & Republic Seduce, All Nighter and Fuel

Hello all, I'm back!!! So about two weeks ago I received my Rock & Republic items from both beautystory.com and the actual R&R website. I ordered two more blushes and one more eyeshadow, hence the title.

Last time around I didn't take photos of the packaging which is very nice, but kind of bulky or the boxes that they came in. This time I made sure to photograph everything.

This is how you will receive them, cute right?

They look like little hat boxes, very creative in my opinion. Just as I was photographing my beauty story order, I received my R&R website order, so that's why there are only two pictured.

Seduce, Fuel, All Nighter

Seduce, All Nighter, Fuel

All Nighter is an orange with good shimmer (my favorite out of the bunch) I love this blush. Seduce is plumish color with shimmer. The eyeshadow, Fuel is a pretty gold color.

Did I mention that I loved All Nighter?? Rock & Republic blushes retail for $40.00,but I believe that up until tomorrow you can still use the coupon code rockcosmetics to receive 50% off. You can also find these on sale at hautelook or beautystory, so watch out for that. Until next time...

Revlon Coupons

Just wanted to let you know that there are two Revlon coupons over on Facebook. I got this information from Crystal over at Money Saving Mom. You just have to like Revlon on their facebook page and then you can print a $2.00 coupon on any Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick (I love Berry Haute) or a $2.00 coupon on any two Revlon nail enamels.
So if you are interested in drugstore products this is definitely a great deal, being that Revlon is usually on sale at CVS, Walgreen's or Rite-Aid. Until next time...

Urban Decay Naked Look

Hey my dears, I feel as if I haven't posted in forever. I'm slacking on my blog and I feel bad about it. I'm going to try to post at least four times a week.
Last week I took out my Naked palette and did a look with it. I feel like I have a lot of stuff that I don't use. Well, I do have a lot of stuff and for the most part I don't use it. I should be ashamed of myself (hangs hand in shame).

I started out with UDPP and then I applied MAC Coral Crepe paintpot.

Next, I applied Sin in the tear duct. Toasted on the lid and Hustle in the crease and blended up.

Let me know what you think, until next time...

MAC Dare to Wear Lipglasses

So after all the raving going on about these lipglasses, naturally I had to pick them up. When I went to the MAC store when the collection launched, I stayed away from the lipglasses. I think I have enough lip products to last me a lifetime, so I placed myself on a "no buy," but I blew that many months ago.

I was good and only picked up two, Bold & Brash and Ban This!, the color payoff on these babies are great. They are nothing like the regular lipglasses. I'm starting to realize that most of MAC's lipglasses look the same on me, so unless it is really unique I try to stay away.

Bold & Brash, Ban This!

See how pigmented they are and they look exactly the same on the lips. My only problem with these glosses are the glitter that they leave behind. It is horrible to say the least, unless of course you like walking around looking like a disco ball.

When I wiped the swatches on my hand off with a paper towel, I got this:

Not a great picture, but you get the point. I had to use a makeup remover to get all of the glitter off. On the other hand, I only had this problem when worn alone on my lips. When I put the lipglass over a lipstick, I didn't have glitter mouth when I wiped it off. I'm guessing you are going to have to reapply this frequently if you are wearing it alone so you are not walking around with glitter lips.

All in all I have to say that these are the best lipglasses that I own, but mainly due to the color payoff. They are comparable to a liquid lipstick. I could have done without the glitter, but I still love them. I thought they would have been like MAC Dazzleglasses, which also contain glitter, but they don't leave behind as much.

Have you purchased any of the Dare to wear lipglasses, if so how do you like them? Until next time...

Rock & Republic

Remember the R&R coupon that I spoke about here. Well the coupon code is still valid. So if you were thinking about purchasing cosmetics from R&R you can get them for half off with the code rockcosmetics. Remember that shipping is also $0.99 for a limited time, happy shopping.

Napoleon Perdis NP at Target

Hello my dears, I'm back with another "beauty find" I guess you can call it. I love Target, they have great deals, but I have to say that I have never seen this brand before at Target. I have been down many beauty aisles at many different Targets and I can't believe that I am just stumbling upon this.

I heard about the NP brand from MsMonniee42 on You Tube. She was doing a haul video and I was surprised that I had never seen this before. I thought it was a new brand or something, so I did a little research and found that they did carry this brand at the target that I frequent. So on my next trip, naturally, I went on a hunt looking for the NP Seattle eye shadow trio. Initially I didn't see it so I continued my shopping, but before I went to checkout, I went down every aisle AGAIN and this time around I found the whole NP line. I guess the first time I really wasn't looking.

When I seen the price tag, I was turned off. I'm thinking that if it is at Target it has to be reasonably priced, right? Well this retails for $20.00, not horribly bad, but I was thinking that because it was at Target that it couldn't have been any more than $10.00 to $12.00. Needless to say, I purchased it anyway.

These shadows have very good color payoff and last for about six hours, I noticed slight creasing. The shadows blend very well. There is some shimmer in the last shadow (silver) as I noticed there was some fallout underneath my eye. I applied that color in my tear duct and slightly on my lower lash line.

Blue, Gray, Silver

Silver in the tear duct, Gray on the lid and blue in the outer v.

Overall, I think that these are very good, but the cheapskate in me probably will not purchase them again. I guess I have it set in my mind that if you are buying from a drugstore or discount store that the prices are suppose to reflect that or maybe it is just me. In the end, you get what you pay for and these are worth the $20.00. You can find NP at your local Target. Until next time...

Rock & Republic Scorch/Immoral

Scorch and Immoral

A few weeks ago Rock & Republic had a coupon code for 50% off their cosmetics and after reading the accidental beauty's post I thought to why not try them out. I'm not a blush girl so I don't own that many blushes, but these were calling my name and for 50% off I figured why not go for it. I did it all in the name of blogging lol, that's how I tend to justify most of my beauty purchases now that I have this blog :)

I have another package from beautystory.com on the way, they had a 50% off of Rock & Republic items last week, but it is taking forever. So I will post that when I receive it.

It seemed as if everyone knew about the coupon so it was slim pickings on the blushes. I picked up Immoral which seems to be a orange-ish coral color (retail $40.00) and Scorch eye shadow a golden orange (retail $28.00). I should also mention that shipping is a mere $0.99, so that topped with the coupon code made for a decent deal.

Both items are very pigmented and they come in very cute packaging if I do say so myself(I probably should have taken a picture of them closed so you could see). I haven't worn the eye shadow yet, but the blush compared to most powder blushes that I own (MAC and NYX) wore better than I expected. As I said before my skin is very, very oily in the summer season, so blush doesn't last very long on me. I went out yesterday in very humid weather for about five hours and I still had blush on when I returned home.

A little goes a long way with these bad boys, the below swatches was just one swipe with my finger.

Scorch Immoral

All in all I love both of these products, the price however without the coupon codes is a little steep for me. I would definitely purchase more of both if there is a new coupon code or if they are on beauty story again. They are well worth the price though. Until next time...

Wet n Wild Dark Shadow

This is the last nail polish that I purchased from Wet n Wild's Insomnia collection, which I believe is limited edition.

I have to say that I love this polish, it is black with silver glitter, it comes in second after Prowler of course. With the other polishes I used three coats, but with this beauty I only had to use two coats to achieve the color in the bottle.

Again, I can't comment on how these nail polishes wear because I just painted my nails so that you would have an idea of how the colors look. I will update each post when I actually wear the polishes so that you will know how they wear. These polishes retail for $1.99 and can be found on a special display at your local drugstore. Until next time...

JcPenney Sephora

I just wanted to give you guys the heads up because this is a fantastic deal. If you have a JcPenney's with a Sephora inside, go check out their sale. I picked up the Barbie Loves Stila set for only $7.99. I actually bought two, lol, but how could I resist at a price like that. The original price was $40.00.
They also had Kat Von D eye shadows for $10.00 and some Philosophy items for $8.00 and $10.00. I hope this helped a follow beauty addict out. Until next time...

Wet n Wild Sleepwalker

Last week I picked up two more nail polishes from the Wet n Wild Insomnia collection, sleepwalker and dark shadow. I really do love these nail polishes because I don't own anything like them and like I said before they remind me of the Style Black mineralized eye shadows.

Sleepwalker is black with orange glitter, for some this would be a perfect nail polish for Halloween. It went on smooth with no streaking and I used three coats to get what you see below.
The glitter is not too bright or over the top. In my opinion these nail polishes are very wearable. Cute and affordable, who doesn't love that. Again, this beauties retail for a mere $1.99 and you can find them at your local drugstore on a special display. Until next time...

Sigma F80 Brush Review

Hey my dears, I'm back with a review on my very first brush from Sigma. Let me first start off my saying that I am affiliated with Sigma, however, I paid for this brush with my own money and my affiliation has no impact on this review whatsoever. I have heard so many great things about this brush, so I was really excited about trying it. When I first say it, I really had no use for it because I did not use foundation. When I started using the Revlon Photoready foundation, I rushed to purchase this brush.

When the brush arrived, I was in love with how soft it was. I rubbed it against my arm, and against the hubby's arm, I wanted him to feel how incredibly soft this brush was. He agreed that it was soft, but most likely because he wanted me to stop rubbing it on him :)

There was no shedding at all on the first washing. They only thing is the smell, it smells like a new car or a new pair of sneakers. Not a bad smell, but not a great smell. The smell disappeared after I used it a few times.

The brush applies my foundation flawlessly and it is very, very soft on the face. For $16.00 I would have to say that the F80 is a very good investment if you wear foundation. I guess it could be used for powder as well, but I haven't used it for the purpose, so I'm not entirely sure.
I'm actually thinking about purchasing another one.
Have you purchased the Sigma F80 brush, if so how do you like it?
Until next time...

FOTD August 3, 2010

I don't know what has gotten into me. For the most part I like to play it "safe" with my makeup, I don't do dramatic looks with eyeshadow and when I do I just wear it on one eye around the house, lol. When I purchased the MAC Dare to Wear eye shadows, I purchased the "safe" ones, nothing that I couldn't tone down with a neutral color, but when I seen this look I had to recreate my own safe version of it. (Look at me getting all fancy with hyperlinking, lol).

Yesterday we were taking the kids out and I decided since I had already tried the look that night before, I might as well face my fears and wear it outside. I did and I have to say that I LOVED it. It actually came out better than I thought it would.

I purchased the Creative Me 1 palette from Coastal Scents awhile ago, it contains a lot of bright matte colors, which I haven't really used yet. Some of the colors in this palette are similar to the shadows in the Dare to Wear collection.

L'Oreal HIP Electrified

Yesterday I pulled out my L'Oreal HIP duo in electrified. I had this duo for a few weeks now after hunting it down in about three Cvs's. I found out about this then hard to find duo from Gianna over at Nouveau Cheap. You can find the post here

I was kind of skeptical about this because even though the colors are gorgeous, I wasn't sure how I was going to put them together. I was actually kind of scared of the taupish color, smh. As usual I fell into the hype of this product, though I must admit that it is a unique duo and you can't beat the price.

Here's what I used:

Nars eyeshadow primer, MAC greasepaint stick in Dirty, L'Oreal HIP duo in Electrified

I decided to do half of the taupe color and half of the purple, because the taupe shadow is very shimmery and I didn't want to place it all over my lid. I thought that the greasepaint stick, which is a darker color would tone down some of the shimmery-ness.

All in all , the color lasted all day and I think next time, even though there are no "rules" in makeup, I would use this at night and not in the daytime. Or maybe I will, who knows. Until next time...

Naked Lime

So after I picked up MAC's Lime eye shadow, I paired it with MAC's Naked Pigment. I have to say that it is a wonderful combination. I was just playing around, so it is only on one eye, lol. I can't wait to try this out in a "real" look.

UDPP, NYX jumbo pencil in Milk, MAC Naked Pigment, MAC Lime eye shadow, Kat Von D Leather eyeshadow

I also ordered some more things from the Dare to Wear collection (shame on me). They were lip glosses, which I shouldn't be buying anyway, but I folded. So I will back with swatches of those when I receive them. Until next time...

Sephora Shopping

When we were at the mall the other day, I also stopped at Sephora. I had seen the new Kat Von D palette online and I wanted to swatch it. It looked nice online, but I have never had a Kat Von D palette with cream eye shadows in them, so I wanted to try it before I bought it.

I have to say that the Adora palette did not disappoint, when I swatched Oddfellow (black with green and blue shimmer) Ace of Spades (purple with pink shimmer) and Glock (grayish blue) I was instantly sold. All the shadows are highly pigmented and I absolutely love Bloodletting (maroon cream shadow). I can't wait to use this palette, hopefully it doesn't take me as long as it did to use my Ludwig palette. Kat Von D palettes retail for $34.00 and you can find them at Sephora or Sephora.com.

Starting from the left Slayer(cream), Crucifix(cream), Bloodletting(cream), Oddfellow, Ace of Spades, Glock, Holy Bible and Albino

FOTD Friday July 30, 2010

As I stated in my last post, we went to the mall on Friday. I had my Kat Von D Ludwig palette for a very long time and I believe I only used it once. My aunt also wanted to see a look using this palette, so here it goes.

I tried out the Revlon Photoready Foundation, I'm going to review it sometime in the near future, I'm still not exactly sure if it looks right

.

Ludwig Palette, Urban Decay primer potion and MAC mosscape paint pot.

I used the fourth color from the left in the inner corner, the third color from the left on the lid and the second color from the left in the crease along with the last color in the palette (matte brown).
